Frequently asked questions

Who do you counsel?

I counsel women and teenage girls.

Do you accept Insurance?

No. I do not accept insurance. Biblical counseling is typically not covered by most insurances because I am not a licensed mental health professional. However, if your insurance offers benefits for faith-based counseling or spiritual guidance, I am happy to give you a bill to submit to them for reimbursement. You will need to pay out of pocket and then work with your insurance for reimbursement.

How is this different from licensed clinical therapy?

I provide spiritual care rather than state-licensed clinical psychology or psychiatry. While standard counseling relies on psychology, human wisdom, and clinical theories to help you manage your symptoms, biblical counseling looks at your life through the lens of the Bible. It brings the timeless truths of Scripture directly into your personal struggles, relationships, and emotional pain. Biblical Counselors do not provide clinical diagnoses or manage psychiatric medications. Instead, our authority and framework come from the wisdom of Scripture and the care of the local church.

What areas do you specialize in?

I truly believe Scripture is living and active—speaking directly into every part of life and every challenge we face. Whatever situation you find yourself in, there is ultimate hope in the Gospel! If during our initial consultation I feel your situation requires specialized care outside the scope of my experience, I will always be direct and honest with you.

Where do you counsel?

Everywhere! If you are located in the Fort Walton Beach area, we will meet at a place that you feel comfortable talking! If you are not located near Fort Walton Beach, we can meet online using Google meet.

How long are your sessions and what are your fees?

Sessions are typically 60 minutes and are $75 per session.

How many sessions will it take?

While every situation is different, my goal is never to keep you in counseling long-term—it’s to equip you with biblical tools and perspective so you can keep growing on your own and within your local church body. On average, most individuals complete 8 to 12 weekly sessions (sometimes more and sometimes less). During our first few meetings, we will set clear biblical goals for our time together and evaluate your progress regularly so you always know where you stand.

Will there be any work for me to complete in between sessions?

Yes! Homework is a vital part of the counseling process. While talking through things during our session is essential, real growth happens in the everyday moments between our meetings. Think of counseling like taking music lessons. If you attend a one-hour lesson once a week, you will hopefully learn something new. However, if you never practice on your own between lessons, you won't progress very far. In the same way, the assignments I give you are designed to help you spend intentional time working things out dynamically with the Lord in your daily life. He is the one who does the deep, transforming work in your heart!
